Wedding receptions take many forms. It could be a lunch buffet, a dinner,
cocktail party or even a small tea party in the afternoon and the venue should be suitable for
whatever the type of party that is being planned. Here are some basics a couple must know before
they start looking for the perfect place of their dreams.
The basic Question… How many people do you expect?
Make a rough guest list and get an idea of how many guests you are going to invite. Then have a look at the budget allocated to the venue. Keep in mind that the biggest proportion of the wedding costs will go towards the reception and the amount of money spent will significantly vary depending on the number of guests.
The wedding venue should be able to accommodate all the guests while keeping to the budget. Not all the guests who are invited will actually attend the wedding and a great aunt’s cousin whom you forgot to put on the list may pop up later. So, keep an allowance.
The Location…
Decide what sort of a location you want. Is it going to be an elegant high class hotel, a beautiful natural location away from the city buildings or a simple location with relaxed and fun atmosphere? Options range from lavish to laid-back and you may try out places such as beautiful gardens, restaurants, sandy beaches, a nice village or even your own home like the old days.
If there’s a wedding theme try to find a location that suits the theme. This will make the wedding more fitted to the place and will also help with the decorations when the time comes.
Start Looking…
The best way to find the perfect place is through recommendations and by searching on line. Many places are listed on line and by searching you will be able to shortlist the places within a very little time. It’s also much easier and cheaper than going around the country looking for places.
Once the list is short enough start visiting. If the date is already fixed call and check for availability without wasting time.
Reserve - Believe It or Not Timing is Everything…
The perfect place is the quickest to go. Most demanded places are booked sometimes more than eighteen months in advance and you’ve got to be fast. As soon as you find the perfect place reserve it as soon as possible. Try to be flexible on the date and the time. This however will be very hard if the time is auspicious. So the best anyone can do is to reserve as early as possible.
