Don’t make your friends parade in clashing outrageous colours no matter how chic they look in fashion magazines. The colours might look very interesting on a glossy cover page but walking around wearing them in real could be a living nightmare. Instead decide on something soothing which coordinates well with the colors of the wedding. Have a look at real wedding combos; they’ve already lived through the day.
Take in to consideration the skin colour of the bride’s maids and choose colours or colour shades that complements the maids’ skin tones. This way they’ll really want to wear the dresses rather than being forced in to wearing them.
The styles are for them, Not for you
Be it the jacket style, a sari drape or simply a dress, look for the attire with the girls in mind. The styles you select should make them look good, feel good and most of all comfortable. Avoid anything too deep cut or strapless if the maids are not used to show too much. Don’t hesitate to let them help you in the final decision and remember to be realistic: select a style they can actually wear again.
Identical Outfits – Not a Must
Gone are the days when bride’s maids were expected to wear identical outfits. Many brides still prefer the identical look and yeah it’s the tradition, but what looks good on a perfect curvy figure might not have the same effect on an overly built person. Why not let each of the maids have a style that flatters their body? Ask your bridal dresser or the dress designer (if you have one) to help find the most suitable style. Or consult your friends; I’m sure most will know what looks best on them.
Bride’s Maid dresses don’t have to be expensive
Remember, the word expensive goes with the bride’s attire, not the bride’s maids’ attire. You don’t have to over spend on the bride’s maid wear if you don’t have to. Visit a party wear store and pick the dresses or the saris off the shelf. There’s no hard and fast rule saying that you must get them made by a professional bridal dresser. Off the shelf attire is less in price and if you are lucky enough you might even get away with a good discount.
Keep in mind that finding readymade attire won’t be hard especially if you are not searching for identical clothing. Like I said earlier Mix it up, it’s the new way of matching.
